Feeding the needy. Providing day care and strengthening the family. Find out. Take Part. Do the work of an evangelist.

Our ministry started with the day-old bread from a store in Vero beach Florida. We brought it to people at a couple of congregations and families in Vero. When we moved to Georgia we volunteered at the food bank here in Douglas. At that time, they were looking for places to do a “Manna Drop.“  We expected to receive a pallet of bread, but our friends had a different idea!

Each week for about six months they showed up with bread, produce, bakery goods, and sometimes milk products ... a whole truck load. After the six months they asked us to contribute to the delivery charge, so the church we were using to distribute the food chipped in to help with the money.

We were able to keep this “Manna Drop” going for about 2 1/2 years.

Eventually the churches were unable to help us with volunteers. We were feeding anywhere from 50 to 100 families weekly. We now service a smaller group of families anywhere from 50 to 100 people per month. We are able to go into the food bank because one of the ministries that we are aligned have that privilege. Soon we would like be able to go forth in on our own ministry.

We have expanded the ministry to household items such as tissues, bathroom tissue, paper towels, sheets, furniture and the like. We also have been donating to “Called to Care,” a ministry serving foster children and foster families. At the present time we have only a few donors, but our Father in Heaven supplies all of the needs for all the opportunities presented us.

Valerie Mangeot is a long-time Yahad member and ordained elder.
