Lectors’ Prayer 1:  Father, invest me with Your Power as I prepare to proclaim the marvel of Your Message.  I have prepared my reading and tried to assimilate the meaning of what I am about to say: help me, I ask you, to read not just with my lips but with my whole heart and soul.  Make me a hollow reed so that Your Voice will be heard by all who hear me.  Free me of excessive concern over my performance and the impression I create in this Sacred Action.  Turn all my apprehensions into an energy for proclaiming Your Word with power and authority.  May Your Spirit fill me as it fills the Holy Words that I am about to proclaim. Amein.

Lectors’ Prayer 2:  Praise to you, Yahweh Elohim, king of the universe, and all esteem to your name.  I praise you and thank you for calling me to proclaim your word to your beloved people.  Open the hearts of all who worship with us, so that they may hear your voice when I read.  Let nothing in my life or manner disturb your people or close their hearts to the action of your Spirit.  Cleanse my heart and mind, and open my lips so that I may proclaim your glory.  All praise to you, heavenly Father, through the Sovereign Yahshua in the Set-apart Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

The great missionary Andrew Murray (1828-1917) shares the secret of obedience with us in these words:

The secret of true obedience is the clear, close personal relationship to [the Father].  All our attempts after full obedience will be failures until we get access to his abiding fellowship.  For it is His set-apart presence consciously abiding with us that keeps us from disobeying Him.  I must consciously include the Almighty in every thought, activity, and conversation until the habit is established.

Thank you for your promise, Father, that tells me that even the most wicked people cannot take the world out of your hands.  Before cold spiritual weather withers their hearts, may I reach out to evildoers with Your good news.  Let none be cut down or wither because I would not share the contentment I find in You.  (Andrew Murray)

Father, sometimes I hear Your law at church.  I nod my head in agreement then go out and do nothing.  Worship is over and I feel good about my faith.  I got what I came for; I am saved and that’s enough. But in my heart I know better.  I am aware that my personal salvation comes at great cost to You; I must not wrap it up and hide it safely in the closet.  Instead, I should wear it boldly across my shoulders for all to see.  I should wrap it around someone suffering in the cold; I should use it to feed the hungry and demonstrate Your love to all.  Make me a doer of the law, Father, not just a hearer.  (Andrew Murray)

Father, we ask that the Harvest Master flood perfect laborers into our assembly – laborers to share your Glad Tidings in such ways that all the deaf around here might finally hear and understand its simplicity and responsibility.  As the laborers you have already sent for these many years return to you with the first-fruits of their labors, we are confident that our loved ones here behind will break out of the snare of utter darkness and accept Yahshua as Master of their fate.  We now commit this matter into your hands with faith that these lost and beleaguered souls might be justified then saved then empowered.  Let even the most lost of our lot now be filled with your Spirit and receive a complete knowledge of your divine plan.  Amein.

Father, it is written that if I confess with my mouth Yahshua as my Sovereign Master and believe in my heart that you have raised him from the dead, I shall be saved from your awesome wrath and live forever to serve you.  Therefore, I confess this day that Yahshua of Nazareth is my Sovereign, and I accept his authority in my life.  I believe in my heart that you raised Yahshua from death, and that he lives ever to make intercession for me until the hope of salvation becomes reality.  I renounce my past life as the willing slave of Satan and the drone of the systems of the world; I desire to be converted into your kingdom, where there’s forgiveness, love, light, and a mission.  I want to fear and worry no longer, but be on fire for your will and way in this sinful community.  I thank you for reaching out to me through this Apostle.  Thank you for his truthfulness.  I am undone.  But I declare that Yahshua Messiah shall from this day forward be my master; I pray he turn me around, since I am willing to become a new creation in him, even though I be old.  Old things are passing away.  The new is coming.  The new is ME.  Amein.
