RESURRECTION IN SCRIPTURE

Resurrection of the Dead Part (1 / 3):The Bible Study:

A Few Preliminary Statements (reformulated questions)that have Led to the greater study of this subject: "Insofar as the dating of the biblical literature, the first account of resurrection that has survived in the New Testament is in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 . . .  Although there were various models and explanations of among the earliest believers in regards to how Yahshua happened to live after being put to death, being received up or exalted, all these have been subordinated to the idea that his dead body was raised to life.

Resurrection of the Dead Part (2 Of 3): The Classes: There appear to be several different classes of Resurrection - that is, not three times or more than once per individual, but (1) one class has been resurrected into the same bodies as they left in death, (2) one class does not die at all, but lives on in a new spiritual body once the old disintegrates (thus these never die), (3) one class is resurrected into a new physical body to match the old, and to olam-eternal life (4) one class is resurrected into a new physical body only to eventually to die again, and another class is not resurrected at all.

Resurrection of the Dead (3 of 3): (Not So) Hard Questions Answered: What Survives When We Die?: Hard questions are generated in response to explaining the class system, the only scripturally sound resurrection plan.  Questions include, "Will their worm never die?"  "Isn't the Millennium a Second Chance?"  "Did the thief on the cross get to paradise that very day?"

The Sign of Jonah Part 1:“What did Yahshua Do the Three Days his Body was in the Grave?”  First from the perspective of primarily canonical Scriptures and witnesses.  Obviously, Friday after noon to Sunday morning is not three days - yet the sign of Jonah - three days is the belly of a fish - would be the only sign he would give unbelievers of his conquering hope.

The Sign of Jonah Part 2:“Yahshua's Titles and Their Help in Explaining His Identity  Human beings are woefully inadequate to perceive any more than enough information from out environment to stay alive.  If we begin to take seriously multi-dimensional realities (ancients called them "heavens" or "skies") wrapped up in some of the most guarded literature of the Essenes and other mystical groups, we may find in "the seven heavens" and entirely new and purposeful meaning of reality that protects us and preserves us toward resurrection and forever.

Resurrection day: Many Convincing Proofs

The word "resurrection" comes from the biblical Greek word anastasis, which literally means "a standing up" or "a rising up."  It is not resuscitation; it is not reincarnation; it is not the soul separated from the body. It does not mean surviving physical death as some ghost or spirit, floating from place to place, playing harps on clouds, or haunting houses. Not at all.

ALL: Three Classes of Resurrection  or  ALL: Three Classes of Resurrection “Gospel” means ‘good news.’  We think in terms of ‘the Gospel’ but there really are two gospels, a gospel of Christians and a gospel of Jews.  The gospel of Christians says that only believers in Jesus will be rewarded with heaven while all others are condemned to burning torment for eternity.  The gospel of the Jews is far more inclusive; their gospel says that all who ever lived will be resurrected back to the flesh and judged by the Law.  Both of these gospels have aspects that are correct and incorrect, yet each understanding is quite incomplete without the other.  It takes parts of both understandings to make the Full Gospel. Christians received their gospel from the Catholic church.  Jews received their gospel from Abraham and the prophets.  Jesus himself never disputed the gospel of the Jews preached to Abraham, that all would be resurrected, judged and blessed.  But Jesus also taught that only those born again would experience a spiritual resurrection.   These two gospels aren’t contradictory at all.  They harmonize perfectly with each other and both are scriptural.

RELATED IDEAS IN SCIENCE & PHILOSOPHY

What defines a meme (permalink) (pdf)?

James Gleick: Our world is a place where information can behave like human genes; ideas can mutate, replicate, and evolve. The cells of an organism are nodes in a richly interwoven communications network, transmitting and receiving, coding and decoding. Evolution itself embodies an ongoing exchange of information between organism and environment. “If you want to understand life,” Dawkins wrote, “don’t think about vibrant, throbbing gels and oozes, think about information technology.”

Omega Point as Eschaton: Answers to Pannenburg's Questions for Scientists by Frank Tipler. (pdf)

If all God did was to conserve matter and energy and the laws of physics, to be merely the ontological support without which the universe would collapse into nonexistence, then God qua God, God's existence would be merely equivalent to the physical conservation laws. Wolfhart Pannenberg (1981) and other have shown that the recognition of this equivalence in fact was a major cause of the growth of atheism in the 18th & 19th centuries.

In What Body Will We Be Raised? A Restoration Light Publication  It is generally supposed by professing Christians that none will be saved except those whom they believe will go to heaven. They do not see God's purpose to restore mankind to its former state to the human perfection lost in Eden. Nonetheless, the scriptures hold out promises of life and blessing and restoration to all the families of the earth. (Genesis 12:3; 22:,17,18; Psalm 37:11,22,29; Matthew 5:5) The Scriptures, however, while holding out promises of life and blessing and restoration to all the families of the earth, offer and promise the change to spirit form only to the joint-heirs selected during the Gospel age; and we have not found a single passage that sustains such hopes for any others.

What Happens When You Die? Where Do You Go? Do You Go to Hell?

One morning, a man found himself lying on a gurney in a hospital laboratory. Large, unfamiliar machines and probes surrounded him, and there was a white-robed attendant shuffling around the room. The man was very groggy. He wasn't sure what was going on or how he got there. A doctor in blue approached the gurney and said to the man, We've given you a sedative so you'll feel no pain during the procedure. However, if you can stay awake, you may watch the progress of your test on the video screen up above. The man on the gurney replied, Sir, I can't see the screen very well. Everything's blurry. Then the man fell asleep.

What I was Taught In Church about Life and Death

In the church, I have the impression that I was taught that (1) There is a storehouse of immortal souls in heaven.  At birth, each person is 'gets' an immortal soul that cannot ever die. Therefore everyone starts out on an equal spiritual footing.(2) If the person dies before the age of accountability (12 years old), the body goes into the grave but the immortal soul is carried off by an angel to heaven to live in luxury forever, because that person is considered innocent up until that age. (3) If a person comes to the church altar and gets saved and baptized in water, and if that one does not backslide before death, the body will go in the grave but the immortal soul will live in heaven’s luxury forever.  Heaven is in the sky; angels, good Christian people, beloved pets, and Jesus, are there. (4) If a person does not get saved and dies, the body will go into the grave, but the immortal soul will be cast into the eternal fire of hell. Unable to die and be burnt up, that soul will live in burning horror and torment for eternity.

The Nazarene Acts
of the Apostles

Also known as
The Recognitions of Clement

Ever wonder why PAUL and not PETER received the mission to the lost tribes?  Wasn't Peter the stone upon which the "church" was to be built?  In this new translation of the Nazarene Acts, we follow Kefa (Peter) as he itinerates from Jerusalem and up the Mediterranean coast up to Tripoli, as recorded in the journals of his successor, Clement of Rome (Phi 4:3).  Every message Kefa preached, the company he kept, and the great works of faith the the Almighty accomplished through him are herein recorded.  This 300 page volume has been 'hidden' in the back of an obscure volume of the "Church Fathers" all this time.  Could it be that, in establishing the Gentile 'church' by pushing away from Judaism, this history was purposely hidden?
