YouTube Why Day 1 is Before the Equinox in 2025 Lisa Black, Norman Gray, Ruth Mathews April 6, 2025 There are several strategies for determining the first day of the year on the ancient Zadokite festival calendar. They are the Literary Method and the Astronomical Method. This year, some of us used the Literary Method and came up with March 26, and some of us used the Astronomical Method and came up with March 19. One is supposedly just as correct as the other. But this year, they don't match up, giving Zadok Calendar watchers two different philosophies of finding the 1st day of the year. Our speakers tonight all use the Astronomical Method which, in their thinking, takes precedence over the Literary Method. And it is through the Astronomical Method that has gotten us calendars in which the First Day precedes the Equinox.
